Fundació Fluidra signs agreement with three industry-leading firms FITT, WA Conception and Renolit to build a pool in Dakar

With the idea of joining forces to multiply results, Fundació Fluidra has been running a fundraising campaign for the past few months targeted mainly at businesses and entities related to the world of the swimming pool.

The campaign aims to power and support socially responsible pool-related projects: democratizing the use of facilities for all people and groups, learning to swim, and the pool as a space of life and health...

In keeping with the philosophy of Fundació president and Fluidra co-founder Joan Planes i Vila that “the road is always better traveled together” the Fundació reached out to industry firms to propose the possibility of pairing up to drive socially responsible projects.

In 2021, Fundació Fluidra will ringfence a preliminary contribution of €170,000 ($US197,000) to the construction of a swimming pool in Thiaroye, a depressed neighborhood of Dakar with a high poverty rate and dearth of resources. Once up and running, the pool will enable more than 2,000 children a year to learn to swim and give the general population a high-quality sports facility. To make the project possible, the Foundation signed an agreement with the companies Fitt (pipes, hoses, and ducts), WA Conception (electric power systems and project automation) and Renolit (high-performance pool liners), which made contributions ranging from €5,000 to €15,000 ($US5,800 to $US17,400).

The Fundació has established different forms of participation according to financial contributions. Companies that give more than €10,000 ($US11,600) will be known as “Partners”; ones giving between €5,000 and €10,000 ($US5,800 and $US11,600) will be “Sponsors”; those that give between €500 and €1,000 ($US580 and $US1,160) will be termed “Collaborators”, and companies giving up to €500 ($US580) will be “Friends”.

The campaign is already under way and we hope other companies and private individuals join us soon so together we can make another socially responsible swimming pool happen.
